So, do you want to work your weekends?

 

It is probable that you want the freedom to make choices that you couldn’t make in your normal employment, or perhaps you simply see an opportunity to earn more money and achieve your goals earlier.

 

Is working weekends simply a task you need to set, just to be busy, or is it a means to attain the lifestyle you desire?

 

Have you ever thought about what is important to you? What you want in your life? Now we don’t mean a new car or furniture, but those inner things that guide your important decisions. 

 

You might ask why is this so important, and what has it got to do with giving up your weekends?

 

Well, unless you know what is important in your life, you will never know whether doing this extra work, or anything else for that matter, will provide the means by which you enjoy your life. Working is more than, well, just a job. Your work should be a way to get more of what you want out of life.

 

In order to do that, you either have to create extra work that frees you to do the things that give you the life you want, or create a working life within which you can achieve the satisfaction and sense of fulfilment you want.

 

So, what would you look for when you first start thinking of working weekends, a greater sense of freedom, more independence, self-satisfaction, a sense of pride? Would you think here is an opportunity to make a difference in your life?

 

It is only when you clearly understand what’s important in your life, what goals you want to achieve, that your motivation and your earnings begin to really take off!

 

Many of us are paid a wage or salary to do work we are good at, for someone else to earn more money from our efforts. Some of us just work very hard to keep the home front operating in as efficient a way as possible.

 

Why, then, should we not put our work talents to good use in other ways? Do we have a hobby or skill in a different area that could bring us extra income? Also, there are many jobs requiring only a little skill but needing an organised mind and a healthy work ethic. It is a certainty we all do jobs around our own homes without having to pay for help, so why not do it for others?

 

What I have presented in this book is a variety of ideas for making your spare time more profitable, supplementing your main income stream; or earning you a few dollars to achieve a short term goal and aim for a more satisfying lifestyle. 

 

Many of the tasks detailed in the book may merely be an extension of what you do all the time, for some it may be a skill or hobby you have taken the time to learn because you have a special interest in doing it. Whatever it is you decide to do, at the end of the day please remember, you must do it well enough to be confident of deserving the pay for doing it.
