Some people have a blog simply to have an opinion, it could be on politics, religion, the news, fashion or sport. They are not trying to sell anything, they are just looking to have a voice.
However, if yours is about selling a product or a service, like mine, then your article content should be about converting blog visitors to clients. Don’t, however, do any hard selling; let them see by the information you provide, or the skills you show in your writing, just how they need to visit your website.
Your call to action will be contained in the article content you provide on your blog, with links to what you are offering. That’s all you are trying to do, get the reader to speak to you through your blog or a visit to your website.
Once you have the reader, keep them as long as you can.
Having gone to the trouble of finding the right keywords or phrases which makes a search engine direct readers to you, it is obviously great if you can keep them there for the reason you did all this.
When the reader did their initial search, to find your content, there were many other options for them to take, so having got them you have to do your best to keep them. Just keep things simple for them, link them to your website and use uncomplicated language to speak to them, to maintain their interest.
Your article content should be up-to-date.
The topics you use in your article content should, wherever possible, be topical six months or more after you wrote it, having dated information on your blog or website is a real turn off to the regular blog reader and indeed to those looking for a product or a service. So, the information should be up-to-date when written and updated when appropriate. Otherwise the first time reader will not be back.
