Social Media

A lot has been said about the bad side of social media, and there is one. Some people don’t seem to have any reservations in saying what they really think, the lack of face to face contact allowing them to sneer whatever they feel like, with no consequences for them except being blocked by someone they don’t like anyway.

However, not much is said about the good side of social media, the contact you maintain, without being face to face, the instant feedback you get and the support you receive in times of success, trouble, illness or loss.

A simple ‘like’ from a dozen or so Facebook friends can easily lift your spirits, taking away the insecurity, loneliness, or isolation you may feel, instantly.

Unfortunately, like anything else, Facebook, Twitter, Instagram and all the others are easy pickings for the keyboard warriors wanting to go into battle and hurt some feelings by disagreeing with a point of view, in a very direct way.

These keyboard cowards have no idea the effect they have, or how they cause people to react, they have no sensitivity, no empathy, for those people and opinions their comments are aimed at, They disagree, and that is that.

So, what should we do? First of all, do NOT respond, however much you would like to go back at them, DON”T. Secondly, if you considered them a ‘friend’ they are NOT, so, unfriend or block them, stay in the group you want to talk to.

Could this be a case of ignore them and they will go away, this type of keyboard warrior loves to engage with its prey.
